Environmental Features

We are conscious of the environment and now collect our own rain water to use on site.  We have sited a number of watering stations/storage butts around the site supplied by the main catchment tank.

Stop press - Fruit garden and vegetable patch

Our new fruit garden consists of a number of culinary and desert fruits.  Gooseberries, blackberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants and strawberries are now growing on site.  These will be for sale and also will star in our cream tea and pie selection when in season.  The vegetable patch has been established along organic principles and will exhibit a great variety of seasonal produce for sale in the shop

We are now growing vegetable plants for sale too.  These will be available for retail in the next few weeks and consist of Runner and broad beans, broccoli, aubergine, courgette, leaks and a whole lot more

We are proud to announce, new for Spring 2010, an enlarged cafe and retail space.

Selling an expanded selection of Twinings teas, Taylor's of Harrogate coffees, snacks and quality pastries, the indoor cafe will provide the perfect place to relax in all weathers.  The extra retail space allows us to expand the range seeds and garden accessories available.

Schedule of events for Spring Summer 2010

The Potting Shed Story

In early 2009 The Potting Shed was taken over by new management.  The main job, over the last few months, has been to renovate various areas one by one.

Read what Garry says about the job

The journey began March 2009 when I discovered a neglected site just off the A37, I immediately saw its potential & opened for business on April 1st. Underneath the weeds & brambles I found a lost garden & nursery with amazing possibilities. Over the last few months I have been working to restore this land to the haven it once was; my journey will continue!!!

I have been gradually creating a peaceful place to sell a wide collection of hardy nursery stock including plants that originate from countries across the world; changing with the turn of every season. Every item that I sell has been personally chosen by me.

I have collaborated with some unique local craftsman & now sell their work.
